Harvest 2023
As every year the grape harvest represents a fusion of tradition, innovation, and commitment to quality winemaking.
Harvest 2023 was quite an interesting challenge for La Querce Winery.
Grape harvesting is always an intricate dance of timing and technique, the decision of when to harvest the grapes is crucial and varies depending on the desired wine style. Winemakers monitor factors such as sugar content, acidity, and flavor development, as well as the visual and tactile cues of ripeness. Harvesting too early or too late can significantly impact the final wine's character.
The ability to adapt to changing weather conditions is a crucial skill for those involved in the grape harvest and winemaking processes, and it underscores the close relationship between grape production and the environment. Difficult weather conditions in recent months in Tuscany has prompted La Querce Winery to make a greater selection of grapes than in 2022.
At the time of grape harvest 2023, however, the grapes of La Querce Winery had high sugar levels, balanced by a well-presented acidity, an element that allowed us to produce wines with a nice freshness.
We then decided to use the selected grapes to focus solely on the production of our historic wines: Chianti Colli Fiorentini Sorrettole, La Riserva, La Torretta, the Sangiovese cru and Colorino La Querce.
In conclusion, it has been a challenge, but we are grateful that we have maintained the high quality of our wines La Querce Winery.
